Dr. Cheryl A. Nicholas

Awarded the 2007 Professional of the Year Award by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill - Charlotte

       Dr. Nicholas has been a clinician and administrator in mental health services for  over 28 years.  Dr. Nicholas developed Western New York's first model residential case management program for minority mental health adults.  Numerous organizations have utilized her expertise in their hiring and training processes.  She was an instrumental member of the award winning Mecklenburg County Mental Health Authority Adult Services Assertive Community Treatment Team grant writing committee.  

       Since her move to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in 7/98, she has been a major contributor to organizations throughout the community.  During her tenure with Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health Authority she served as the supervisor of the Willie M. Child and Adolescent Case Management unit.  She created the first mentoring program for at risk youth and positively revamped the Family Services Program.  She was the Director for the Adult Partial Hospitalization program. She is also a board member of the North Carolina Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services (NCAPRS). 

       Dr. Nicholas's creative yet clinically sound program implementation methods have consistently resulted in greater client and staff satisfaction and success.  She is highly skilled at implementing therapeutic measures that yield efficient and effective results that positively impact the  client and the broader community. Dr. Nicholas has utilized her training in psychiatric rehabilitation (conducted at Transitional Services in Buffalo, NY under the auspices of Boston University ) to create  the innovative person centered practices used daily at the InnerVision Recovery Center. As InnerVision's Director, she continues to utilize her leadership to attain positive and productive outcomes from the clients and employees she guides.

Media is being able to convey ideas and thoughts to the public in many directions. This is a way to catch the public’s eye and show them different views of life experiences. InnerVision is continuing its efforts to harness technology to improve the quality of life for individuals with psychiatric disabilties.
She was sociable and happy in high school. But in college that changed abruptly: Depressed and withdrawn, some days she couldn't get out of bed. And that wasn't all.
Aquiet crisis exists in our community that is affecting more children and families every day.
